Game of Thrones-forfatter George R.R. Martin arbejder på nyt Westeros-projekt
- og det lyder awesome!
George R.R. Martin, forfatteren bag A Song of Ice and Fire som lagde fundamentet for HBO-serien Game of Thrones, er for tiden i fuld gang med at færdiggøre sin roman The Winds of Winter (den sjette ud af syv bøger i serien).
I mellemtiden har han dog haft tid til at brygge lidt på nogle andre projekter - stadig inden for rammerne af det fantastiske Westeros-univers.
På LiveJournal Blog opdaterede han sine fans omkring sit nye projekt med følgende beskrivelse:
“The Sons of the Dragon” is the title. Those of you who enjoyed “The Princess and the Queen” in DANGEROUS WOMEN and “The Rogue Prince” in ROGUES will probably like this one too. It’s water from the same well. A history rather than a traditional narrative. A lot of telling, only a little showing. (The opposite of what I do in my novels). But if you’re fascinated by the politics of Westeros, as many of my readers seem to be, you should enjoy it. As the title suggests, “The Sons of the Dragon” chronicles the reigns of the second and third Targaryen kings, Aenys I and Maegor the Cruel, along with their mothers, wives, sisters, children, friends, enemies, and rivals. If you’re read something to that effect on the web, good, that much is right.
Lidt ligesom J. R. R. Tolkiens geniale, sammenflettede univers, hvor visse bøger indgår i andre bøger som en form for Inception - på samme måde bliver "The Sons of the Dragon" en fortælling, som tager afsæt i R. R. Martins ven Gardner Dozois' bog "The Book of Swords".
Bogen kommer derfor til at udforske Targaryen-slægten, forfædrene til vores elskede Khaleesi. Et mere politisk, samfundsorienteret blik i måden, hvorpå den 2. og 3. Targaryen-konge regerede over landet.
